5th Event of the Team Sorting Winter Series Highlights:

We had a great turn out for this sorting - we had over 55 riders (which is the maximum number of horses we can have in the pen at one time), and we ran about 140 runs and paid out about $1,400 to the various winners.

The riders and horses are all getting a lot better. Of the 5 Novice teams that placed, 4 of the 5 times were under 30 seconds - new arena record time of 26.36 was set in the novice class by Cody, Kenny and Geromy. Not sure how long that time will hold up - my guess is we'll have some 22 seconds runs before we end the winter series. Interesting that the winning times in the Jackpot would have not even placed in the Novice class! Seems the Jackpot class is the place to enter if you want to win. (LOL).

The cows held up fine, but we're going to bring in a third pen of cattle for the finals weekend to make sure the cows hold up.  Thanks to everyone that came out to ride - we enjoyed having everyone - we have good group of people attending our sortings, and we really appreciate meeting all the new riders (we had 12 new riders). Special welcome to the new riders that came out from Indiana and Columbus area - long drive, and it is great to meet everyone.

Call or Email Ahead:
As a reminder, please be sure to call or email us early if you're planning to attend the March 14th event. As of today, Wednesday, March 11th we have 26 confirmed riders, and if we end up taking 55 confirmations, those riders that didn't confirm will have to tie up outside - so if you if intend on coming out, make sure we hear from you in advance of March 14th. We don't want to have to ask riders to hang outside, but if you don't confirm it is the only option we have to keep it safe for everyone that did confirm ahead of the event.

RK ARENA SPRING SORTING SERIES:
We're going to announce our Spring Series Schedule and new Sorting Format, (along with new Classes and Trophy prizes) on March 14th - probably won't have the specific details nailed down exactly, but we will by the Winter Finals held March 28th and 29th. The Spring Series will be a little different and should be more challenging for the intermediate and pro riders and will give the beginning riders (novice riders) their own class to participate in to more of chance at winning prizes. If you have an email address, please send me an email Rob.Lensman@gmail.com , and I'll make sure to add your name/address to the RK Arena email list, so we can send you the spring series flyer and details when it's ready to go.

Winter Series Finals: The finals weekend is a two day event, held on March 28th and 29th we're going to start early on Saturday at 1 PM (not the normal 2 PM), and we'll start around 11 AM on Sunday. We will hold the Finals BBQ/Party on Saturday night after the sorting, and everyone is welcome to attend, and please let us know if you plan on staying over Saturday night in your trailers, etc - we only have a few trailer hook ups (electric and water) so be sure to reserve one if you need a site with electric and water; we have plenty of general trailer parking and everyone with trailers is welcome to camp out.  After the sorting on Sunday, we'll award the trophy awards to the winners of Novice, Jackpot and Hardest Working Cowboy and few other prizes will be be given away. Also, please keep in mind that all points earned on the finals weekend count as 1.5 times (so first place which is normally 10 points would be 15) - the added points will make a big difference in the points standing heading into the finals weekend. The winners photos below!
