6th Event of the Team Sorting Winter Series Highlights:
We had a great turn out for this sorting - we had over 50 riders and we ran about 130 runs and paid out about $1,400 to the various winners.
The riders and horses are all continuing to getting a lot better. Our arena record time of 26.36 set last week, was broken by Tod Boger, Kevin Walters and Aaron Buell in the Novice Class with a new time to beat - a time of 25.95, we all knew the old record would not stand for too long. Nice work guys.
March 14th was the last sorting before the finals weekend March 28th and 29th. This week, we've had a lot of calls from folks asking if it okay to come out and ride at the finals even if they have not been out before or if they are not high in the points - the answer is "of course" all riders are welcome - come on out, just call or email before Saturday, March 28th to confirm.
March 28th & 29th Finals:
Reminder - we're going to start an hour earlier (1 PM) on Saturday, March 28th and we'll start around 11 AM on Sunday, March 29th. BBQ cook out, party and camping is still happening for those riders that would like to camp/stay in their trailers Saturday night - please let us know if you're planning to lay over on Saturday. Many folks are bringing various pot-luck type items, RK arena is providing all the pork, beef, etc.
Call or Email Ahead:
As a reminder, please be sure to call or email us early if you're planning to attend the March 28th and/or 29th event. We have several confirmed all ready, as of today, Monday, March 23rd.
RK ARENA SPRING SORTING SERIES:
We're going to announce our Spring Series Schedule and new Sorting Format, (along with new Classes and Trophy prizes) on March 28th. We'll run a couple of events in April & May with the finals held early June. The Spring Series will be a little different and should be more challenging for the intermediate and/or pro riders and will give the beginning riders (novice riders) their own class to participate in to have more of chance at winning prize money. If you have an email address, please send me an email Rob.Lensman@gmail.com , and I'll make sure to add your name/address to the RK Arena email list, so we can send you the spring series flyer and details when it's ready to go.
Winter Series Finals: The finals weekend is a two day event, held on March 28th and 29th we're going to start early on Saturday at 1 PM (not the normal 2 PM), and we'll start around 11 AM on Sunday. We will hold the Finals BBQ/Party on Saturday night after the sorting, and everyone is welcome to attend, and please let us know if you plan on staying over Saturday night in your trailers, etc - we only have a few trailer hook ups (electric and water) so be sure to reserve one if you need a site with electric and water; we have plenty of general trailer parking and everyone with trailers is welcome to camp out. After the sorting on Sunday, we'll award the trophy awards to the winners of Novice, Jackpot and Hardest Working Cowboy and few other prizes will be be given away. Also, please keep in mind that all points earned on the finals weekend count as 1.5 times (so first place which is normally 10 points would be 15) - the added points will make a big difference in the points standing heading into the finals weekend.
