OUR NEXT SORTING IS OCTOBER 17th - Practice starts at 2:00 PM.
Everyone had good time at the October 3rd sorting, we ran in the indoor arena due to excessive amount of rain all week and the cooler temps - my guess is we will be running in the indoor for the rest of this year.
Our rider turnout was good despite the many events that were scheduled - there several team ropings, high school rodeos, Quarter Horse Congress, and SmokeRise Resort and Ranch had their awesome FALL ROUND UP Penning and Sorting, but all in all, we had about 30+ riders and had a good time.
The good news for everyone is that the sport of Team Sorting is certainly growing in our area which was our original objective in holding events at RK ARENA, it is really fantastic how many riders are starting to get the cattle bug - we're confident that we'll have a lot of riders competing this winter which make the events so much more fun everyone. We continue to draw new riders every week - we've had over 40 new riders come out since August, and many of them are new to the sport - this week Kasilyn Walters & Jade Foster (they did a fantastic job taking 2nd Place in Open/Novice class), Amanda Carsten, Diana/Breanna Burnent, Stephanie Schnarrand, Joe Lebold, Josh Cochran & Donna Randall (Davey Randall's Mother sorted for her 1st time) just to mention a few.
And, special note of thanks to some of the original RK ARENA sorting crew (Teach, Beaman's, Randalls, Tony & Brittnay Todd, Ceci Cohan , Jeromy/Blane/Lane Greiwe, Kenny & Jeannine Price, THE Stewart's, Leland/Becky/Matthew Farmer, Buell's, Susie Campbell, Greg Smith, Rick Ducus, Gary Cramer & his side kick "Hollywood Karen", Brad & Chuck Clippenger, Big Dave Lavelle, Morgan Family, and Buffy & Victor Cook), these folks and many more have supported our sortings "week-end" and "week-out", & we really appreciate everyone's continued support of RK ARENA and the sport of Team Sorting!
And, a big shout out to Bryce and Stephanie Parcels (BTW: she is riding very well) for donating their cooking time and supplying the yard birds for Bryce's awesome beer can/BBQ chicken, the best yard bird I have ever eaten, the chickens were fantastic and everyone enjoyed them - nice job chef! On a sad note - our hearts and prayers go out to the Beaman Family (Brent, Brelye, Cuillian) for their loss in the passing of Brent's Mother - you're in our prayers and thoughts!
